FAQ
If you can not find an answer to a question, please contact us.
How old does my dog have to be to come and play/stay?
Dogs need to be at least 12 weeks and have their 3rd set of vaccinations. Proof of vaccinations is required. (Bordetella, Rabies, DHLPP; we also recommend that your puppy is dewormed too).
My dog is not neutered/spayed. Can they come to Maple’s Doghouse?
Dogs 6 months and older MUST BE spayed or neutered in order to come and play at Maple’s Doghouse.
Does my dog need to come for an assessment day? He/She loves other dogs.
Yes, all new dogs are required to come in for an assessment day (first day). This is a full day of play in which your dog will meet new fur-ends and to get an understanding of what daycare is all about. The assessment day also allows us to get to know your dog and see if they are a fit for Maple’s Doghouse. The assessment day is a charge of $23.00 + tax (which is credited back on the first daycare pass that purchased).
Do I need to be there with my dog during their assessment day?
No, the assessment day is for your dog, he/she will be more relaxed and will engage more if you are not there. (They tend to want to be with their pawrents).
What would cause my dog to NOT pass an assessment day?
1. If a dog is aggressive towards people or other dogs we will not be able to accept them. 2. If your dog is showing signs of stress and does not enjoy the daycare experience, we will recommend that you do further training and expose them. 3. If your dog is destructive to our facility.
What does my dog need to bring on their first day?
Please make sure that your dog arrives wearing a proper fitted collar (2 flat fingers) or a harness and is on leash. If you have a puppy we suggest bringing them a lunch (we have bowls available) to have while they take a well-deserved break from play.
Can I pick up or drop off my dog anytime as you are staffed 24 hours a day?
No. We do accommodate early drop offs weekdays at 6am and weekends at 7am (which Management will need to authorize). Late pick up on weekdays can be until 8:30pm, weekends 7:30pm. Late pick up charges do apply to early drop off and late pick up.
How many play areas do you have?
Six. We separate the dogs based on size, temperament and age: High Energy, Medium Energy, Small, Low Energy, Rough and Tumble (1 on 1 play), Puppies or Teens (depending on the day).
Why does my dog NOT wear a collar at Maple’s Doghouse?
Safety! We do not want to have any type of incident happen that’s easily preventable. Dogs wearing collars in group play is very dangerous and potentially life threating if, caught or snagged.
Where does my dog go to the bathroom?
We encourage dogs to relieve themselves outside and they are given regular outside breaks in the day. We make sure that any accidents that happen are cleaned up immediately! If you are house training, daycare will not affect your house training… Think of Maple’s Doghouse like an indoor dog park.
Can a friend or family member come and pick up my dog?
You can have someone else pick up your dog as long as we are made aware of it prior to them coming. It is advised that you add them to your Pro-Pet account under “Other people who can pick up my dog.” We will ask your friend or family member to produce ID. Your dog is your fur-baby and we will not hand them over to someone without your consent first.
Does my dog have to be crate trained?
1. It really makes your dog’s experience a better one if they are… Why? REST. All dogs love to play but they also require rest. If a dog is at daycare for 10 hours and is not resting they are more likely to get grumpy and agitated with another dog. Should they not be able to give themselves rest, we will then give them a break in a crate for 30 min in the morning and afternoon. A rested dog = A happy dog!
2. When we feed the dogs they need to be separated to ensure that no one gets into each other’s food. Dogs are fed in crates for this reason.
Does someone stay overnight with the dogs?
You betcha!! We pride ourselves on our London’s Lodger’s overnight care. We have a staff member on site 24 hours a day. This means that your dog is never left alone and you can go away having peace of mind that they are getting lots of TLC around the clock. In fact, our owner, Kim is here with the overnight dogs most nights!
